Barber quarters were minted from 1892 to 1916. They are named after Charles E. Barber who was the Chief Engraver at the US Mint at the time. These quarters have as much silver content as 90% silver Washington Quarters. Dome stackers find the Barber coins to be a way to make their silver stack more collectible and interesting.
Most Barber quarters that are in mint or near-mint condition are sold through coins shops at ten or twenty times their spot value.
