Standing Liberty quarters were minted in the US from 1916 to 1930. The obverse shows Lady Liberty holding a shield, and in the first issue she had a bare chest. After some public criticism the design was updated in 1917 so that Lady Liberty's chest was covered by chain mail armor! These "worn" condition coins lose quite a bit of detail due to their elevated design elements. The high relief in the design makes these coins a bit more susceptible to earlier wear and damage. As a result, Standing Liberty coins are considered "worn" until the dates are no longer visible at which point they are considered culls. As far as silver content in a Standing Liberty quarter is concerned, culls would still contain about 95% of what it had when originally minted, so the silver loss is still minimal despite its "slicked" appearance. Give your silver stack some class and be sure to add some Standing Liberty coins. They are valuable, highly-collectible and very cool!
